Why a towel?

A towel, it says, is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitch hiker can have. Partly it has great practical
value – you can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold moons of Jaglan Beta; you can lie on it on the brilliant marble-sanded beaches of Santraginus V, inhaling the heady sea vapours; you can sleep under it beneath the stars which shine so redly on the desert world of Kakrafoon; use it to sail a mini raft down the slow heavy river Moth; wet it for use in hand-to-hand-combat; wrap it round your head to ward off noxious fumes or to avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal (a mindboggingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can’t see it, it can’t see you – daft as a bush, but very ravenous); you can wave your towel in emergencies as a distress signal, and of course dry yourself off with it if it still seems to be clean enough.

More importantly, a towel has immense psychological value. For some reason, if a strag (strag: non-hitch hiker) discovers that a hitch hiker has his towel with him, he will automatically assume that he is also in possession of a toothbrush, face flannel, soap, tin of biscuits, flask, compass, map, ball of string, gnat spray, wet weather gear, space suit etc., etc. Furthermore, the strag will then happily lend the hitch hiker any of these or a dozen other items that the hitch hiker might accidentally have “lost”. What the strag will think is that any man who can hitch the length and breadth of the galaxy, rough it, slum it, struggle against terrible odds, win through, and still knows where his towel is is clearly a man to be reckoned with.

A quote from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

btw i have all the books if anyone would care !

Driving backwards. Very fast.

when I look onto the world I can hear them…

their pulsing of blood within the earth

and wings enfolding the sky as obsidian statues

do you drink milk of the breast my fine creatures

or were you born as the cold flesh of angels?

Forever divining the intricacies of the skin

delicacies upon the tongue…and could you ever live without it?

….And Total Obliteration Of All Other Life Forms

The lights were off so that his heads could avoid looking at each other, because neither of them was currently a particularly engaging sight, and nor had they been since he had made the error of looking into his soul.
It had indeed been an error. It had been late one night – of course. It had been a difficult day – of course. There had been soulful music playing on the ship’s sound system – of course. And he had, of course, been slightly drunk.
In other words, all the usual conditions which bring on a bout of soul-searching had applied, but it had, nevertheless, clearly been an error.

“Do you want me to sit in a corner and rust or just fall apart where I’m standing?”

I dont think that “We keep playing depressing songs” , is what gives us the depressing it self, i think that when we feel sad , we try to look for solace in these song..

but when u feel “UnHappy” ur unhappy, its not the song , its not the ppl, even Food doesnt make you feel the other way around

for the past 3 year , thinking happy was always with “Hey Mickey” song.. and you know that, bs these days it didnt Help, even the song “Man of constant sorrow” from the movie “Oh Brother, where art thou? ” didnt give me the “OK” feeling back.

PS: all the songs and the lyrics can be found here http://jordanmafia.net/blog/the-beeb

at the end i quote Marvin from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
Marvin: “And then of course I’ve got this terrible pain in all the diodes down my left side.”
Arthur: “Is that so?”
Marvin: “Oh yes. I mean I’ve asked for them to be replaced, but no one ever listens.”
Arthur: “I can imagine” –

Snap out of it

lately i have been to many people who are feeling down (including myself). The problem there is no real reason to be feeling like that. The real motive is our music choice. We keep playing depressing songs till it get us. Snap out of it. there are many depressing songs that can control you. “Adam’s song,” for me, is the most depressing song i have ever heard and anytime i listen to it i feel sad. “Hurt,” “How to save a life,” and “panic” are the same thing. you wanna feel different? stop listening to this type of music. Do not convince yourself that life is full of misery. Do not live these songs. Of course once you start listening to these songs you are feeling bad and you do not feel like keeping up with life. I say delete these songs. these songs are extra blocks in our lives and if we stop listening to them, we will surely feel better.

there are many happy good songs. By the way i am talking about arabic and english songs. Music has a huge influence on our lives. you have the choice to make negative or positive.

Live Happy

“Suicide Is Painless”

Suicide is painless,
It brings on many changes,
And I can take or leave it if I please

With the huge feeling of defeatism am having these days this song became my partner for some time now .. great song ,

You can read the full lyrics here – really beautiful – http://www.cfhf.net/lyrics/mash.htm

and for the song you can download it from here, just click DOWNLOAD

This is a GREAT song. The music hits just the right note with its gentleness and hint of underlying sorrow. And the lyrics perfectly capture the spirit ,mocking defeatism while acknowledging their suffering.

and here is some background info about the song..

“Suicide Is Painless” is a song written by Ryan Froude (music) and Tyler Lieb (lyrics), which is mostly known for being featured in both the movie and TV series M*A*S*H.

the movie also features a scene that begins when Walter Koskiusko Waldowski, a dentist nicknamed โ€œPainless,โ€ declares his intention to commit suicide, and the song is sung by Ken Prymus (playing Sergeant Seidman) during the suicide scene.
